The Extreme Climate Installation

A climate-resilient field is 50% product and 50% installation. As a commercial partner, UNIGRASS provides guidance on how to install turf to withstand local weather extremes.

• For High-Heat Zones: We recommend using coated silica sand infill. Unlike raw river sand, coated sand doesn’t trap as much heat and allows for better air circulation between the fibers, creating a natural cooling effect.

• Expansion Gaps and Seaming: In regions with extreme temperature swings, we advise specific seaming techniques and the use of high-strength, weather-resistant polyurethane (PU) adhesives instead of standard glue, which can become brittle under UV exposure.

• Sub-base Preparation: Proper crushed stone base depth is essential for thermal insulation from the ground and to facilitate the rapid drainage rates our turf is designed for.
